Military Sub-Saharan The sub-Saharan is mainly known for its devastating numbers in the issue of AIDS but there is also a good deal of military issues throughout the sub-Saharan. The Burundi cease-fire was a big topic in 2001. One other event that you may have heard of before is that of the northern conflict in Uganda. The UN’s mission to deploy troops for peace keeping in Ethiopia and Eritrea is another topic that was in discussion in early 2001. Most of the sub-Saharan Africa’s problems are in the department of rebel armies and organizations such as the UPDF are trying to eliminate these threats. There are three main countries in the sub-Saharan that have a respectable military and they are Angola, Nigeria and South Africa. The state of Burundi is located between Tanzania and Rwanda, a well-known place for the genocide back in 1994. Burundi was also fighting the war of genocide verses the Hutu since the government was led by Tutsi leaders. Though the genocide in Rwanda stopped after the UN intervened the genocide in Burundi did not come to a slow down until the treaty that was signed on Dec. 3, 2002 in which the Tutsi’s and Hutu’s agreed on a cease-fire.
