Hetzel Nic Hetzel Prof. Galindo English 142-02 24 March 2008 M. Butterfly 1. I believe that Gallimard’s character is very despicable. The reason I believe this is because he was sleeping with another “woman” that wasn’t his wife from back home and not only this he was sharing classified material with a “woman” who was apart of the Chinese government. In my personal opinion Gallimard does have one redeeming quality and it is love. The reason I choose this quality is because even though he was cheating he believed that it was because he truly loved this “woman” even though he had a wife back home. 2. Another character in the play that shows prejudices is Chin who is a fellow actor with Song. He is prejudice towards homosexuals and he presents this to Song who is the actor/actress that is “with” Gallimard. The reason for Chin’s prejudices toward homosexuals is not that he is homophobic but in China being a homosexual is looked down upon.
