Benefits of playing indigenous games*Playing indigenous games improves and emphasizes physical development and brain stimulation, skill training and maintenance.* Children get to experience and let their imagination wonder, they learn social skills because mostgames are played in a group*They teach learners to implement fundamental motor skills as well as complex rules and teamstrategies. The aim is to be the first to scoop outall the stones and then return them to the holeExample 2: MorabarabaThe main skill learnt is the logical and reasoning skill. The aim is for one player to remove theopponents tokens.3. Reasons why I would asses a childs motor abilityIt is important asses the childs motor ability early because gross motor development may have animpact on a childs cognitive and motor abilities as they grow. The child must always be aware of hisposition in space, in this way he can describe an object above him and etc.Children grow and develop in stages and you should learn about the childs development and howmotor skills develop. The child should know how his body moves in space and he should be able todistinguish one part of his body from another.Delays in gross motor skills can lead to problems with fine motor abilities. A childs ability to maintainupper body support .e.g affect his ability to write. Writing is a fine motor skill but many aspects of ithinge on gross motor. Children with poor gross motor development may have difficulty with activitiessuch as writing, sitting up in an alert position nor sitting erect to watch classroom activity. The child develops laterality from his own body image. When the muscles of the eyes are notdeveloped sufficiently they are incapable of turning the eyeball in the desired direction. The childneeds to develop these muscles so that he can use his eyes correctly and effectively.
