2MOS 5301 Unit III Course ProjectIntroductionIn this project, we are reviewing a fire of a warehouse containing, among other things,household chemicals and cleaning products.This portion of the project will focus on fire alarmfunctions and what an audible notifications and special signals are.We will also discuss whatemergency action plans consist.With this information we will determine what designatedactions the employers and employees of the warehouse should take to ensure safety from fire andother emergencies should be taken once the warehouse is rebuilt.Function of a fire alarm control unitA fire alarm control unit (FACU) originated as the fire alarm control panel.It consists ofthe electronics that cause the fire alarm system to function.The FACU contains the electronicsthat supervise and monitor the integrity of the wiring and the components of the fire alarmsystem.(Brakhage, 2016).The FACU receives signals from devices such as smoke & heatdetectors and sets off audible and/or visual alarms incorporated into the fire protection system aswell as notify off-site monitoring systems.Other components of the fire protections system areconnected to the FACU and can be controlled from the FACU’s control panel.The FACU is alsocapable of acting as a communication system to coordinate with fire fighters.
