Explain the exercise that Jane Elliot did with her students. In the documentary A Class Divided, the exercise that Jane Elliot conducted was to implant into the minds of her students that they should discriminate against people with eye color different from their own. It was an exercise that taught them to look at people as equal and show them thattreating their friends differently because of their eye color was wrong. She provided “evidence” that supported her idea that people with blue eyes are superior than those with other colors, which in turn lead the children to believe her. Once the blue-eyed people had their day, she reversed it and started talking about how much better brown-eyed people were and giving them the same praise she had given to the blue-eyed people the previous day. Once she began praising the children, their performance improved and those that were talked down about now began to feel discriminated against.
