Spring Semester 2014COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course will examine historical and current theories that address principles, concepts and research methodology associated with the study of learning and memory. The lecture content will focus heavily on experimental findings derived from research of learning processes in non-human species. The concept of Learning will be explored from the perspective of Classical Conditioning theories as well as from theories derived from research on Operant Conditioning. GRADES: Final grades will be based on the average of 5 scores. These scores are generated froma)the mean grade from4homework assignments,b)three major tests andc) the final exam. The test will generally contain multiple choice, matching, true/false and short answer questions.Test questions will be generated from material covered during lectures, homework questions and material from each chapter in the text. HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS: Homework assignments are an integral part of this course and provide an opportunity for students to challenge their understanding of the various topics, principles and theories that will be introduced this semester.
