On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified. This declared all American woman deserve all rights and responsibilities of citizenship. • Planned Parenthood 1916 oFounded in 1916 in Brownsville, New York. Margaret Sanger, Ethel Byrne and Fania Mindell opened the country’s first birth control clinic. This clinic gave birth control, advise and information. The clinic was shut down due to a police raid and all three women were charged with crimes related to sharing birth control information. Although it’s had its historical controversy, today Planned Parenthood is the Unted States leading provider in reproductive health services. They also provide information/services regarding cancer, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, and many more.
