1 Transition A common thought is with age comes wisdom. In my experience it is just the opposite. When I was a child, because my knowledge of the world was so limited, I thought I knew everything. Now that I have made the transition into adulthood, I have finally realized how much I do not know. Growing up, I was a very privileged child, even though my parents were separated they provided what I needed and usually what I wanted as well. I always had food in my belly, new clothes on my body, and a warm place to lay my head at night. This lifestyle continued throughout my adolescence. When I was of age, I got my license and a car of my own. The car was a ’99 SAAB and it only added to my inflated ego, also the only other SAAB in the parking lot was one of the administrator’s. I had it all and I thought I knew everything. After graduation I planned on attending community college. A last minute change in major prompted me to start out locally to see if this choice would fit. The relationship that I had with my Mother at the time was better than past years, but still not ideal. I had clung to the mentality I had taken to when I was about six, I still thought I knew everything. An acute case of appendicitis on Christmas Eve and into Christmas morning gave me a new perspective, and I really started to appreciate having my Mom there. This only lasted for a
