Boys are so full of energy and enthusiasm, they can not help it. It is who they are, by both
nature and nurture. The stereotypical boy is both violent and unaware of their emotions. The
question is are boys born this way or is it others influences? One thing is for sure that boys need
male role models in their lives. The psychologist who spoke throughout this insightful video,
Michael Thompson, strives to help young boys. Helps them cope with everyday society and
encourages the difference between fantasy play and reality. He explains how there are so many
misconceptions that affect us as a society, gender roles and stereotypes start even as young as
birth.
As early babies you can not really tell a difference between the males and females which
intrigued me because it proves that men are in a sense, pushed in a direction they may not
naturally follow. From day one the male population is told that anger and aggression is
necessary. Taught that anger is manly and vulnerability is not. Instructions given by men seem to
follow the “guy” expectations. Generation to generation boys are told suck it up and not cry, this
