Chem 109 Exam 2 Summary Sheet Chapter 4 Stoichiometry – be able to calculate the grams and/or moles of any compound in a reaction based on the amount of another compound in a reaction. (grams ! moles ! moles ! grams or M ! moles ! moles ! M or any “combination” of these.) Limiting Reagent – be able to determine the limiting reagent in a reaction and the amount of products formed or other reactants used based on the limiting reagent. Percent Yield – be able to calculate the percent yield of a reaction given the amount of reactant(s) and the actual yield of product(s). This calculation requires that you know how to calculate the theoretical yield of a reaction. Solutions – be able to distinguish solute from solvent given an example solution. Concentration – be able to calculate molarity given amount of solute and volume of solution and be able to calculate amount of solute given molarity and volume of solution. Solution preparation – determine amount of solute and/or solvent needed to make a solution of a specific concentration. Dilution – calculate concentrations of solutions that have undergone a dilution and be able to calculate concentrations of stock solutions knowing how the diluted solution was made and its concentration. Electrolytes – be able to identify strong, weak, and non-electrolyte solutions given the solubility
