Confidentiality is very important when working with clients in the social work profession. As social worker we must always respect our client’s right to privacy and must not disclose any private information (NASW, 2017). One can only disclose private information if the client has signed consent or if the disclosure could prevent serious harm to the client or someone else (NASW, 2017). This information should always be provided to the client before services are provided to the client. Consent forms are usually needed if medical offices or the police need information. By maintaining confidentiality with clients that can help build a strong and trusting relationship. I currently work as a school social worker, and I make sure that I explain confidentiality to my students and let them know that I am someone that they can trust. Now, they have that confidence to come to me with whatever situation they may have going on in their lives. My students have a safe environment in my office, and I have signs outside of my door stating that this is a safe zone. I also let them know of the
