Before I left for the military in the winter of 2014, in high school I would take trips to go see my brother attending Florida State University. I would visit him every summer in high school starting from 9 th grade. I remember looking at his homework thinking how hard all of this is and how I would never be able to do it. My mom gave me two choices, well kind of three. It was either work, go to school, or move out. Well I had a job at Bojangles and that wasn’t going great I barely made enough to pay any of my bills. I applied to about 4 schools, but my ACT/SAT scores weren’t the greatest, so I got rejected. And I couldn’t live on my own, not with the money I was making at Bojangles. So out of those 3 options I chose option 4, leave the house and get a job also known as the military. So, I got into the military thinking this was everyone’s only job and nobody went to school…. boy was I wrong. After being in the navy for about 4 years and realizing that everybody went to a post graduate school, I applied to trident university and got accepted.
