What are the goals of employee selection? The goals of employee selection are to get the most qualified individuals hired into the right jobswithin the organization where a need exists; as well as make sure that those individuals are a good match for the organization’s culture. To determine whether or not the individuals are qualified means that the skills for the jobs to be successful must be identified. I have seen firsthand how hiring the wrong person for a job was a big mistake that would negatively impact the entire team. One person who is not a good fit for the job can transform the productivity of a team overnight. It is vital to always focus on whether the individual is a good fit, rather than hiring someone because you are shorthanded and desperate to get the position filled. Accordingto Youssef (2012) states, “…choosing the right people will enable the organization to compete more effectively and attain its goals and objectives” (p. 110). This ensures the organization’s success and job.Compare and contrast two selection methods and how these selection methods impact the achievement of organizational objectives?The first selection method I will address is resumes and application forms. These two items go hand in hand whenever a candidate fills out an application their resume is always attached to it. This is the first impression that the organization gets of the candidate.
