10-3-07 The Declaration Loyalists will be considered as tories 20% considered tories This will not only pit colonists against Britain but also each other. Loyalists will not produce much of a threat, unlike the British army Continental Army o George Washington attends the second continental congress. People look to him for advice and guidance as the army is built Not only is Washington a veteran, he is a southerner. If he gets command of the continental congress, it will attract support of the southern colonies The king’s troops were highly trained, well-equipped, ably led, and seasoned soldiers. o They were ready (all 50,000 of them) o They were joined with 30,000 German Pesian mercenaries o Washington’s army by comparison is terrible. They are lured into service by being asked to serve three years or until the war is over You’d get a cash bounty (could be in the form of land) and a yearly issue of clothes o The army will have very few soldiers and there will be a shortage of supplies
