2There are several correlations between culture and criminal behavior, especially withorganized criminal enterprises, such as gangs, mobs, and cartels. Within all these groups, they arespecific to their identities, either known by their gang colors, tattoos, and other insignia (Young& Brotherton, 2014). These subcultures have their own way of life, hierarchy, recruitmentstrategies, behaviors, and how they are involved within their communities that is noticeable bylaw enforcement (Lerman, 1967).The most famous gangs in the U.S., Crips and Bloods, haveonly been successful at staying around so long because they have maintained their traditions,such as values and behaviors, over several generations (Harbeck, 2021). Most gangs areprevalent in lower-income and inner-city neighborhoods that experience high populationturnover, poverty, and racial diversity, and these gangs provide a sense of belonging and identity
