COUC 502: Discussion Board Post—80 points totalAll key components of the Discussion Board Forum prompt are answered in a new thread. The thread has a clear, logical flow and includes at least 400-500 words. Major points are stated clearly. Major points are supported by at least 2 peer reviewed journal articles. Major points are supported by pertinent examples (conceptual or personal) or thoughtful analysis. At least one biblical principle is included as well. One reply is present. The reply focuses on a meaningful point made in another student’s or professor’s thread. The reply provides substantive additional thoughts regarding the thread and includes 200 – 250 words of content. The reply post provides one strength and one weakness found in another student’s original post. The reply is clear and coherent. As graduate students, we move to a higher plane. Rather than simply regurgitating facts, you want to demonstrate that you understand the concepts and have an informed opinion about them. At this level, you are becoming the expert on the subject matter, so don’t be afraid to assert your thoughts. I’m not looking for unsupported opinion – rather, tell me what you think and why – provide some scripture, research, theory, etc. as foundation. In your reply posts, I’m looking for evidence that you have thought critically about what your classmate offered. If you agree with everything he or she said, great. However, I want to hear whyyou agree – expand the discussion, add to or challenge their thoughts. If you disagree, explain why (respectfully). Ask questions and probe. For full credit in response posts, I must see correctly cited references to therequired reading and scripture. Refer to the grading rubric in the course content area. Finally, remember to integrate applicable scripture into your post. What does the bible say about prayer and meditation? How does this relate to what the science says?Module 4: Question/Prompt:This week you are required to make an informal observation (church, mall, library, etc.) of two developing individuals who are in two different stages of Erickson’s eight stages of psychosocial development. For each developing individual, comment on the characteristics observed, utilizing your text and one scholarly article which supports your observations.I think this week’s assignment is kind of fun – Go to Starbucks or hang out at McDonald’s for a while and people watch – with a great excuse! Pick out two individuals in different stages and apply what you are learning to what you are observing. Some things I have noticed in the essays/DBs that have caused some problems for several people:Be sure you are using scholarly sources – pretty much anything you can pull up on a general Google search is not going to be scholarly in nature (as a rule of thumb). You need to be going to the library databases to find journal articles for the majority of your material.
