Unformatted text preview: SyQwest Bathy-2010 Type of Equipment: The Bathy-2010 is used for bottom and sub-bottom sensing using sound waves. It is capable of measuring between 2.5 meters and 12000 meters of sediment depth. When more than 100 meters are sampled, it can resolve layers as thin as 8 centimeters. This piece of equipment can be used to measure sediment layers of shallow water estuaries, near shore coastal zones, and even offshore areas. Cost: I sent an e-mail to the sales department asking about the cost but I have not received a reply yet. Possible Research Projects: 1. This equipment could be used to track the movements of sediments over time through an estuary and possibly determine the source (i.e. open ocean or river inputs). 2. This equipment could also be used to survey the near shore bottom to determine the thickness of the sand layer, identify hard-bottom environments, and locate possible...
