CAT1 Lecture 10-19-06 - Thinking ahead to your art projects o PHOTOSHOP - Things to think about when reading Anderson o What’s his problem with the concept of “the nation?” o What does he mean when he talks about things being “imagined?” o Why are newspapers “fiction?” Is that bad? - Mini-paper (#4) due next Thursday: o 1 page, double-spaced o After you have read the Nietzsche selection, put yourself in the place of a modern weak, bad, sheep-person, one who likes to write plays and stories that express the struggles that weak lamb-people have, to tell other weak-lamb people. o What sort of arc would the plot would one of your stories have? Who would the villain be? What sort of characters? What would the problem be, and how would it get resolved? o You don’t have to write an actual story- just describe the way the story would go o Educational goals: Help you make sense of Nietzsche Stretch your creative muscles Abstract an argument from a text, and Identify an intellectual pattern - Basic questions so far: o How do we define “person?” o How do we define anything? o
