Personality  31/03/2008 15:28:00 What is personality  A set of psychological traits and mechanisms within the individual that are  organized and relatively enduring and that influence their interactions with  their environments  We are simultaneously like  all  others, like  some  others, and like  no  others  Locus of Control A dimension of believing that your out comes are caused by yourself or by  external forces  o Internal LoC: Control from within yourself, by your own actions o External LoC: Control by something outside yourself, something other  that your own actions  Self Monitoring Altering or adjusting your behavior in order to act appropriately in different  situations  o High self monitor: the chameleon Care a great deal about how they appear to others, want to “fit  in” where ever they are o Low self monitor: Steady and consistent
