Flaherty 1 Kevin Flaherty Dr. Otto English 1301 17 September 2006 Steam Room A loud, long hiss of steam filling up the room startles me from my daydream. Many would say that their favorite place is one that provides them comfort, but I have a different view than most. My favorite place is in the steam room, because it gives me a place to meditate. Steam rooms have been around for ages, for example Roman were obsessed with cleanliness and perfected the steam room and built a bath that could contain up to 1500 people. In this paper I will describe to you the steam room using my senses and how it relaxes me. When I first walk into the steam room I am hit with a wave of heat. The abrupt temperature change causes my body to switch from working mode to a more relaxing, calm mood where I can remember to enjoy life. I find a seat in the steam room, and when I sit down I jump right back up because I am startled by how hot the tile is. Once I sit back down I am used to the heat and I start to realize my other senses. The steam room has a funny smell of feet and sweat. I pick up the eucalyptus oil
