’’Jane Eyre’’ by Charlotte Brontё Response Paper The main character of Charlotte Brontё – Jane Eyre is the ideal of feminine beauty. Jane’s beauty is modesty, intelligence, kindness and independence. Her independence manifests in all stages of life described in the novel and can be seen already in the first pages. Jane had to endure injustice, insults, physical abuse from her wealthy and hypocritical aunt and her cousins. “Unjust!—unjust!” said her reason. Being fed up with her cousin’s insults, she decided to fight him back - “Wicked and cruel boy!You are like a murderer—you are like a slave-driver—you are like the Roman emperors!” – said she. Jane wasn’t scared that her aunt can punish her for these words. For the very first time Jane found courage to stand up for herself. Independence helped heroine of Charlotte Brontё to survive in charity school for female orphans – Lowood.
