Ellen Pierce Exploration of Human Diversity 1/26/12 Topics It seems as though in India, because they never view marriage not as a matter of  love, but base it more on partnership in an almost businesslike manner, their  marriage unhappiness would be lower. Americans have been fed the notion that  they will fall madly in love and live happily ever after, which almost always is not true. I wonder if Americans would be happier, or if the divorce rate would be  lower if their marriages were arranged? It is interesting how different the definition of marriage is in America compared  to India. How do each of the families really benefit from arranged marriages? Do berdache become berdache by personal choice? Can they be forced to become  one? If the bible had not condemned gays, would western society feel the same as it  does currently?
