1 Dr. Beall English 1101 August 27, 2014 Attention Deficit Richard Restak, “Attention Deficit: The Brain Syndrome of Our Era” One of the basic characteristics of an organism is its ability to evolve/adapt to its environment. Our generation’s fast paced way of life puts a strain on our brain so much so that it has now caused long term effects. Restaks himself writes, “Our brain literally changes its organization and functioning to accommodate the abundance of stimulation forced on it be the modern world”, in other words, Restaks believes our brain is always adapting to our lifestyle. It has become common to dismiss the damaging effects the modern age has on our brains however I believe that it is becoming very detrimental to our brains.
