ASSIGNMENT 2: THE COLD WAR AND U.S. DIPLOMACY–PART 22 Abstract The following paper describes Carter’s doctrine and what events led up to this doctrine and post-Cold War effects.The relationship between Iran and the U.S are discussed prior to the Cold War and the doctrine being announced.As well as pre-Cold War, we will examine the current political relationship between the United States and Iran. Furthermore, we will talk about the open-ended and long lasting effects Carter’s doctrine has imposed on the global political environment.Lastly, it is assessed and determined if the doctrine actually had the intended effect or not on Iran as set out to do when the doctrine was first announced.
