Elana Tolman Movement Lesson Plan Category/Classification: Language Arts, Reading, music Grade Level: fourth Objective: Language Arts (2) Listening/speaking/critical listening. The student listens critically to analyze and evaluate a speaker's message(s). The student is expected to: (B) identify and analyze a speaker's persuasive techniques such as promises, dares, and flattery (4-5); Music (5) Response/evaluation. The student responds to and evaluates theatre and theatrical performances. The student is expected to: (A) identify and apply appropriate audience behavior at performances; Behavioral Objectives: In groups students will analyze the speakers persuasive techniques Materials: Free verse or Haiku poem, instruments. Activities/Strategies: the class will listen to a poem and watch a demonstration of a sample poem with movement. I will explain how I created the movements and what the represent. We will discuss the idea of movement as "verb" and not noun. Class will focus on the abstract rather than the presentation of the words.
