RUNNING HEAD: BENCHMARK – ELA UNIT PLAN Section 1: Lesson Preparation Teacher Candidate Name: Angela Rosier Grade Level:7th Grade Unit/Subject:ELA Title of Unit and Brief Summary:This 5-day lesson will teach students how to use bio-cubes as a guide for comprehension. Students will learn strategies such as using bio-cubes to summarize text. Students will write a biography independently while making meaningful connections with the learning material. Classroom and Student Factors/Grouping: Important classroom factors to take into consideration are students with health impairments (Denise, Bertie, and Victoria). Students will be placed in groups based upon their academic level. Some students will be paired with a peer who is on a higher academic level to help them with staying on pace with the rest of the class. Students are in a self-contained classroom and their skills and levels vary.Some of the identified health impairments are ADHD, task-completing skills, and test-taking. National/State LearningStandardsW.7.6 Will engagestudents in technology,learning to citesources, write,collaborate, andinteract with others(ODE, 2018).W.7.4. Students willlearn to use cleanwriting andorganization indevelopment of tasks,purposes, and audience (ODE, 2018). SL. 7.5. Students willengage in multimedia, visuals, and emphasize specific points (ODE, 2018). SL.7.4. Students will learn to present points and use salient points to give descriptions, facts, examples, eye contact and pronunciation (ODE, 2018). SL 7.2. Students will engage in collaborative and effective discussions. The discussions will be held in three settings: (one-on one, groups, and teacher-led). They will engage in this activity on the 7th grade level using their own expressions and ideas (ODE, 2018). Specific LearningTarget(s)/Objectives.Topic of studentschoice.Printed onlineinterpretations and information making up the outline of material which is being presented will be used.Students will use graphic organizers to write down their thoughts on topic of their choice.
