ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS ON COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSINGPUBLIC HEALTH LAWSObjectives:oAdhere to ethico-legal considerations when providing safe, quality and professional nursingcare.oAdhere to established norms of conduct based on the Philippine Nursing Law and other legal,regulatory and institutional requirements relevant to safe nursing practice.oProtect client rights based on “Patient’s Bill of Rights and Obligations”oImplement strategies/policies related to Informed consent as it applies in multiple contexts.REPUBLIC ACT 7305MAGNA CARTA OF PUBLIC HEALTH WORKERSSECTION 1.Title. - This Act shall be known as the "Magna Carta of Public Health Workers."SEC. 2.Declaration of the Policy. - The State shall instill health consciousness among our peopleto effectively carry out the health programs and projects to the government essential for the growthand health of the nation. Towards this end, this Act aims: (a) to promote and improve the social andeconomic well-being of the health workers, their living and working conditions and terms ofemployment; (b) to develop their skills and capabilities in order that they will be more responsive andbetter equipped to deliver health projects and programs; and (c) to encourage those with properqualifications and excellent abilities to join and remain in government service.SEC. 3.Definition. - For purposes of this Act, "health workers" shall mean all persons who areengaged in health and health-related work, and all persons employed in all hospitals, sanitaria, healthinfirmaries, health centers, rural health units, barangay health stations, clinics and other health-relatedestablishments owned and operated by the Government or its political subdivisions with originalcharters and shall include medical, allied health professional, administrative and support personnelemployed regardless of their employment status.Approved, March 26, 19923 out of 42 sectionsPRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 856CODE ON SANITATIONWHEREAS, the health of the people, being of paramount importance, all efforts of public services shouldbe directed towards the protection and promotion of health; andWHEREAS, with the advance in the field of sanitation in recent years, there arises the need for updatingand codifying our scattered sanitary laws to ensure that they are in keeping with modern standards ofsanitation and provide a handy reference and guide for their enforcement;NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powersvested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree the following Code on Sanitation:Chapter IGeneral ProvisionsSECTION 1.Title. – The title of this Code is “Code on Sanitation of the Philippines”.75
