Rishil Patel Graf English 101-70 November 12, 2007 Baseball vs. Softball Softball and baseball is a sport that is known throughout the United States and the world. Softball is a great new way to meet many people. Whereas, baseball is the way to explore with its different techniques of play. While the games of baseball and softball each have many fans, many players prefer to play one or the other but not both. Although baseball and softball are similar in many ways, they have some notable differences. Hence, let’s compare softball and baseball to see its pace with which each game is played, the rules of each and the level of leagues are different for each. In baseball, the throw must be made using the 'submarine style,' a very efficient sidearm or near-underhand motion that gives the pitcher strength to throw the ball with a faster speed. While in softball, the throw, or pitch, must be made with an underarm often called "windmill" motion: the ball must be released below the hip when the hand is no farther from the hip than the elbow.
