About 15% to 25% of pregnant women are battered. Between 50% and 70% of the men who batter their spouse or partner also abuse their children! There are three times as many animal shelters in the US as there are shelters for battered women! Children are present in 40% to 55% of homes when police intervene in domestic violence calls.
