Two to four million women are battered each year. 700,000 to 1.1 million elderly people are abused every year. Never forget Victims may die as a result of abuse Check recent news! No victim ever forgets and justice may be served but never in the eye of the victim Children who suffer abuse have the greatest likelihood of becoming abusers themselves Vicious triangle EMS EMS system has the "pleasure" of seeing all types of abuse EMS providers have often first contact with victims Check your protocols may be a mandatory reporter!!! Abuse and assaults transcend gender, race, age, and socioeconomic status. Partner Abuse Physical or emotional violence from a man or woman toward their domestic partner. Battery is not limited to women! A battered man is often less likely to report abuse, due to shame or lack of resources! Same Sex couples are also victims!
