The Civic Welfare Training Service is geared towards activities that have socialimpact through activities that could contribute to “health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the citizenry”, thus the CWTS component ofthe NSTP stressed the importance of youth involvement in broad programs or activities that willbenefit the people.Social responsibility is an ethical theory in which individuals are accountable for fulfillingtheir civic duty, and the actions of an individual must benefit the whole of society. The CivicWelfare Training Service emphasizes that students must cultivate the sense of socialresponsibility, be aware of his or her unique participation in the pursuit of welfare in the familyand the common good of the larger society, so that society can, in turn, look after the commongood and well-being of the people. Social responsibility, first of all, means strengthening of thefamily; a basic autonomous social institution. Doing basic household chores such as: cooking, cleaning the house, doing the laundry or the dishes, teaches the youth that sense ofresponsibility and gain important life skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.
