Access to healthcare is one of the paramount sociopolitical concerns in the United States. In the
United States of America substantial health differences exist between different racial, ethnic, and
socioeconomic classes. This leads to poor social determinants in some communities which
impacts a person’s well being. Further, decreased access to quality health care leads to escalated
risk for non-communicable chronic diseases including hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease
(Zieff et al., 2020). The great majority of westernizing post-industrial countries have utilized
different ways to give all people, irrespective of socio-economic position, job status or payment
ability, wholly or mostly subsidized by the government (World Health Organization: WHO,
2019). This topic was chosen since access to healthcare is a pressing issue. Also a universal
healthcare system would greatly increase access to care. Further, morally there is a right to
