Historical Roots of Personality Where does personality come from? Theophrastus o Pupil of Aristotle, went around in Athens o One of the first text of personalities, noticed many different thing o Interested in characterizing different personalities o people that do some things are more likely to do other things o Example: The Unseasonable Man o 30 different types of Athenians Galen o 400 years after Theo o Physician o Looking at the biological basis of personality o Came up with different bodily fluids in the body are associated with different personality traits (linked peoples biology to what they are like) II. NPI: Questionnaire personality trait Narcissistic Personality Inventory-NPI Narcissism symptoms o Grandiose sense of self-importance
