Who’s personality are you really listening to? What is personality? How do we go about perceiving personality? Core approaches: Psychodynamic, Humanistic Idea: all of us have a basic core of what we are; we all have a basic approach Psychodynamic: a core that can be changed Humanistic: deep down we are good and there is a core there Onion skin Humans and personalities are like onion skins; no essence there Sam’s research focuses on this Personality- Conceptualizes personalities in terms of traits; relies on consistence How does personality relate to what you do? EX: Sams question: Do sleeping positions have different personalities?
