POWER THEORY2Power has been administered and displayed for various years within the educational system, agood administrator is able to balance several tasks simultaneously and delegate when theappropriate time calls upon itself. Planning and the ability to influence strategically are key to thesuccess of an aspiring administrator. Describing the five examples to the response of power thathas been wielded into the organizational school structure for decades. The five interpersonalconcepts of power by French and Raven; that are available to all administrators in the schoolsystem that elaborate on Power are: legitimate, reward, coercive, referent, and expert. AtJefferson Rise Charter School all of the five powers are available and used profoundly andmanipulated in order to influence the behavior of individuals or groups leading to theachievement of its mission statement. Knowing that legitimate power lies within the office itself(Hoy & Miskel, 2008) whether it falls under the Superintendent of the school or district,principal or assistant principal suited for the individual with authority. This is the introduction ofthe first power that a competent administrator will put in his or her repertoire. Speaking of theinstitution of Jefferson Rise charter school; the principal will give incentives to all employees bypresenting a twenty dollar gift card and one additional hour added to PTO for committing anunseen good deed around the school either by going out of your way for a student or employee.
