Nick Lanza ENG 302 Binkley 1/29/08 Chapter 2 Executive Summary (second draft) Summary: Chapter 2 discusses team communication and the process of mastering listening and nonverbal communication skills. There are the pros and cons of teamwork. Some advantages of working with teams is the production more information and knowledge, increase in diversity, and achieving higher performance levels. Disadvantages to teamwork are groupthink (a situation that occurs when peer pressures cause teammates to conform, withholding contrary opinions), hidden agendas (private, counterproductive motives), the free rider problem (team members not contributing), and cost to run the team (aligning schedules and arranging meetings use up time and money).
