Robert Imig Prof. Hess 10/26/07 Nanotechnology is a fast rising trend that seems to capture the media’s attention regularly. In an article about the benefits of Molecular nanotechnology it states that, “Molecular nanotechnology manufacturing can solve many of the world’s current problems.” (Center 1) The article further mentions possibilities of a nanofactory with “a single chemical supply and power supply can produce a wide range of useful, reliable products, including copies of itself to double the manufacturing infrastructure in hours, if desired.” (Center 1) This would provide companies to produce products at a cheaper and more environmentally friendly pace. The small scale products would be quite a change as well. The article mentions that with nanotechnology “a supercomputer can fit into a cubic millimeter, and cost a small fraction of a cent.” (Center 3) These benefits may be hyped up and a little exaggerated though.
