D’Agnilli 1 Michael D’Agnilli Comp 1 Dr. Cheznik 1 April 2008 An anorexic Amish makes for a bad party guest The Amish and the pro-anorexic community, at first glance one would probably perceive that these two groups have nothing in common at all and couldn’t be more different types or people. The Amish are people of strong faith, who dedicate their lives to God and choose to live without the assistance or aid of modern day conveniences such as electricity and indoor plumbing. The pro-ana group is a bunch of very sick people that have a terrible eating disorder that forces them to starve themselves in order to look “more beautiful”. However upon closer examination one can see that there both groups have a much defined sense of specialness, both groups also strive to separate themselves from the world as much as they possibly can and live alienated from others, and both groups also have an amazing sense of willpower and dedication to their cause. Let’s look at why these two groups want to separate themselves so much. The Amish believe that “it is the duty of the Christian to keep himself ‘unspotted from
