Parker Rhine MU 2313.253 Faculty Exhibition, 9:30 a.m., 2/5/08 Mitte Art Building, Texas State University Critique #2 Art Critique #2 The exhibition I chose to view was the Texas State Art and Design Department’s Faculty Exhibition. The art created by faculty members was housed in the Mitte Art building gallery. The exhibit was open from January 14 to February 7. The overall exhibit itself did not have a theme, but the artists did have their own themes for their works. Eric Weller’s Bare Naked Tree Series , attracted my attention the most. The technique, style and focus of his photographs were interesting and unique. As far as technique is concerned all of the photos were done in the same manner. The artist explained that he used a double toned silver gelatin print, giving them a sepia look. Due to the style of print the overall motif of the photos is somewhat haunting in appearance. The focus of every photo is in the center even though the main focus is not what your eyes move to in the beginning. Everything in the photos that is not in the center focus is a whirl of hazy shapes, as if you’re staring at the photos with a glass cup over one eye. All of the photos were captured in a
