Antidiabetic Drug ----Metformin  (Glucophage) 500mg po bid c meals a biguanide compound acts by decreasing hepatic production of glucose from stored glycogen diminishes the increase in serum glucose following a meal decreases the absorption of glucose from the small intestine does not produce hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia can cause GI disturbances (not for patients w/ renal impairment withhold for 48 hrs before and after client undergoes IV contrast dye Narcotic Drug -----( Percocet) T tab po q6h prn pain oxycodone HCL with acetaminophen for moderate to severe pain A: PO: 5mg q4-6h, or 5-10mg q6h Antihypertensive Drug ----benazepril HCL  (Lotensin) 10mg po q AM Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme inhibitor headache, cough, dizziness, hypotension, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation may occur risk for hyperkalemia
