Fibrocystic Breast DiseaseMost common breast problemamong women 20-30 years old.Thought to be caused by animbalance in normalestrogen/progesterone ratio.Three Stages:Stage 1:occurs in early 20’s,premenstrual breast tenderness &fullness, resolves after menstruation.Stage 2:occurs in late 20’s-30’s,multiple nodular areas, with fullness&soreness.Stage 3:occurs 35-55 years, cystsappear suddenly & associated withpain, tenderness & burning.Cysts aresmooth & mobile, may recede aftermenses, but do not disappearcompletely.May resolve aftermenopause.

Ductal EctasiaBenign breast problem,common in womenapproaching menopause.Caused by dilatation &thickening of the collectingducts in the subareolar area.Ducts become distended & fillwith cellular debris.2 Manifestations:1)Firm mass with irregularborders2)Greenish-brownish nippledischarge, enlarged axillarynodes, redness, edema over themass.
Intraductal PapillomaOccurs most often in women 40-55 yearsold.Benign, wart-like growth tissue that formsfrom the epithelial lining of the mammaryducts.
