Upon arriving at the Mansion 462, I had no idea what to expect. I had called ahead to see who was playing and they simply said that it was a jazz collaborative. The show started at 10:00 on Wednesday, April 9 th , and right from the beginning I could tell that the players were a lot of fun. The leader of the group started off joking around with the crowd and was very enthusiastic during his playing. He played the tenor saxophone, and was accompanied by a keyboardist, drummer, bassist, and (depending on the song) one or two guitarists. They played a variety of songs, some of which included vocalists and some which did not. For the most part, I enjoyed all of the songs that they played. They were all jazz standards, or songs that are well-known and oft-played by almost all jazz players. Songs such as “Summertime” and “Body and Soul” were played. The reason that they did not play original songs was because the group was made of many players that had never seen or met each other before. I
