Jesus’ execution and anti-Semitism Both Matthew 27 and Luke 23 explain the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Mathew 27 goes into more detail, explaining the before and after events very carefully. Luke 23 takes a broader approach, failing to mention some of the facts that were stated in Matthew 27. Both of these chapters in the Bible are very similar to each other, while having different details throughout the scripture. One of the similar facts that were established in both of these books was that Pilates was the governor who is responsible for the execution of Jesus Christ. One of the facts that were different in these chapters was how Jesus talks to God directly in Matthew 27, asking God why he has forsaken Jesus. In Luke 23, Jesus talks to God saying that the people do not know and to forgive them. In both of the books state that it was the people who wanted to execute Jesus, but Pilates is the one at fault. Pilates was in charge of governing the whole city and gave the people what they had wanted. Pilates faced having to live in guilt his whole life, losing support from fellow members of his council, and having the fellow Jews blamed for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was expanding his kingdom at the time he was crucified. He was traveling with his disciples to many lands to evangelize and to let God’s word be known.
