11/01/2008 13:06:00 Narrative form Organized so that the parts of the film are related to each other through a  series of causally related events that occur in a specific time and place o Tell stories narration the process of how a story is told via a plot that conveys or withholds story  information stylistic elements: how the movie looks and sounds camera angles, actors performance, how sounds and colors are used etc. plot consists of all the things and events that are directly presented to you, the  viewer. o The selection and arrangement of story events story contains all the events that you see and hear in addition to the events you  infer to happen Classical Hollywood Cinema (CHC) assumes: o  an active, goal-oriented protagonist o a film’s action will come from individual characters who serve as causal  agents o the narrative will move along a chain of desire
