Public opinion and pro rights editorials o Correlation which shows editorials affect public opinion on gay rights o Another view could be that the NY Times us finally catching up to/ responding to public opinion Do Media have affect or are Media responding to public opinion? o 1 st look how media covers same sex marriage o Massachusetts has legalized same sex marriage and the editorials in Boston Glove reflect this (48 columns are pro same sex marriage) o Kansas less supportive – banned same sex marriage and Wichita Eagle reflects this and public opinion is affected by lack of support on this issue
