Goals of the Lab (1) To become more familiar with LogicAid. (2) To become more familiar with SimUaid. (3) To design a 4-bit binary adder and subtractor without use of “full-adders” using SimUaid. (4) To build and test 4-bit adder using laboratory hardware. Procedures Step 1: Write logical equations for adder-subtractor. Utilize LogicAid to simplify equations, thereby simplifying the multiple output of each adder. Initial equations based on previous design: Sum n = X n (CinY n ’+Cin’Y n ) Cin. Cout=CinY n ’+CinX n +CinX n Y n ’+Cin’X n Y n. Where n represents the bit that corresponds to each adder X n The nth bit in the 4-bit number X, and Y n The nth bit in the 4-bit number Y. Equations simplified using LogicAid: Sum n = X n (CinY n ’+Cin’Y n ) Cin. Cout=CinY n ’+Y n X n. It can be easily seen that the Sum equation is already simplified when it comes to
