Dill C.I.M. 1B 12/5/05 Objectives: To learn how to properly transfer an inventor sketch into EdgeCam To verify and execute the EdgeCam generated code in CNC Motion and in EdgeCam To learn what a boss and pocket are To properly create a boss and pocket in inventor To properly create the boss and pocket features in EdgeCam To continue practicing the basic safety principles when operating a mill Codes to be used in program: G90 (absolute coordinates) G01 (straight line interpolation) G00 (rapid traverse above material) G01 F9 (plunge into material at 9 RPM) G01 (milling from point to point) M06 T01 (load tool #1) M03 S3000 (spindle on at 3000 RPM) M05 (spindle off) M06 T00 (put tool away) M02 (end program) Process: 1. Open a new project file in inventor. Label it “Boss and Pocket”. Create a boss and a pocket on a 2” x 2” x 3.5” block of wax. a. Boss: a feature that leaves an “open” corner or edge on the material. b. Pocket: a feature that is created on a face of the material and is enclosed in the material, but has an open side (due to the tool used to create it).
