The schizophrenias Seek simplicity, but distrust it (Gottesman, Schizophrenia Genesis) Symptoms of Schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a complex disorder with pluralities Positive (new, not good) symptoms, Type I Symptoms Delusions – extremely odd thoughts which has no basis in reality. Hallucinations Disorganized Thought and Speech Disorganized or Catatonic Behavior ( Catatonic – unresponsive behavior) Negative Symptoms(lost behaviors), Type II Symptoms\ Affective Flattening ( Or blunted affect) – stop smiling etc. Alogia – they speak less and less or even do not speak at all Avolition – they do not want to do any normal things, get from bed, take a shower and so on. Other features Inappropriate Affect Anhedonia – they do not feel pleasure doing some things anymore Impaired Social Skills Schizophrenia can also involve disruptions of perceptions. 50% of people with schizophrenia report a breakdown in perceptual filtering.
