Madison Leibman LEB 323 Journal Entry Lying The article discusses the ethics of lying and the difference between what makes a lie wrong versus necessary. I think the article presents two very different types of deception. One is lying in order to better many people and the other lie isn’t to better anyone but can only end up hurting a lot of people. In the case of Harold, his plan was to lie to his bank to secure the $100,000 loan so he is able to pay his employees. This form of deception has the potential to hurt many people and I think there is no justification for it. Even if some time passes and the business is able to repay the loan in full with interest I still don’t think that lying is ever okay in the situation. His lie is a serious crime and if he were not able to repay the loan he would have faced serious consequences. Operation Fortitude was made to protect the life and safety of many, many people.
