Kidney Renal Cortex: Superficial portion of the kidney, in contact with renal kidney Renal Medulla : Consists of 6-8 distinct triangle structures known as Renal Pyramids Renal Columns : Separate renal pyramids by bands of cortical tissue Renal Pelvis: large funnel shaped chamber Minor Calyx: Urine production occurs in the renal lobes. Ducts within each renal papilla discharge urine into a cup-shaped drain called the minor calyx Major Calyx: made of of 4-5 minor calyx. 2-3 major calyx form the renal pelvis
